How are the papers selected?

All papers published in ISEMA were written by students taking classes at Carleton’s School of Public Policy & Administration. Professors nominate papers at the end of each school year, which are then sent to an editorial board of students, graduates and professionals to review. Selected papers then go through several rounds of peer-review before finally being published.

Who publishes ISEMA?

ISEMA is student-run, organized and published journal based out of Carleton’s School of Public Policy & Administration. This means everyone who works on the journal – from the Executive Board to faculty representatives to the editors – are all volunteers.

How is ISEMA funded?

Publishing a journal of ISEMA’s quality not only takes lots of hard work and dedication from students, faculty and staff, but also generous funding and donations. ISEMA receives grants and contributions from research funds, community and company initiatives, and individual donations.

How can I become involved with ISEMA?

There are many opportunities to get involved with ISEMA. You can volunteer as a student editor, an external reviewer, or even work on next year’s Executive Board. If you are a graduate, you can also elect to be one of the journal’s external reviewers. If you are interested, contact Editor-in-Chief Samantha Jarvis at
